Seen ("Seen", "we", "us", or "our") is an app for sending kind, anonymous
messages to people around the world. This Privacy Policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using
Seen, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
Account information — your email address, and (if you sign up with email/password or Google) your display name.
Profile details — information you add during onboarding, such as your country and any profile details you choose to share.
Content you create — the kind messages and greetings you send, reactions, and any private chat messages you exchange with other users.
Support & payments — if you choose to support Seen financially, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details; we receive only a confirmation and limited billing status from Stripe.
Information collected automatically
Authentication data — when you sign in (including with Google), our authentication provider (Google Firebase) processes your sign-in credentials and a unique user ID.
Notification device token — if you turn on notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver the reminders and updates you have enabled. You can turn notifications off at any time.
Seen does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do
not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
To create and manage your account and sign you in.
To deliver the core experience — sending and receiving messages, showing your impact, and enabling private chats.
To process voluntary payments and manage supporter status.
To keep Seen safe — preventing abuse, spam, and violations of our community guidelines.
To improve and maintain the app.
3. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
Other users — greetings and feelings you post are visible to other users of Seen (feelings can be shared anonymously).
Service providers that operate the app on our behalf:
Google Firebase — authentication, database, and hosting.
Stripe — payment processing.
Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Official messages from Seen. To help you get started, Seen may show you official messages from the Seen team (for example, a welcome note). These are always clearly labelled "Seen · official", are shown only to you, and never come from — or pretend to be — another user.
4. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can
delete individual messages, delete chat conversations, or request deletion
of your account at any time. When you delete your account, we remove your
personal information, except where we are required to retain it for legal
or security reasons.
5. Your choices and rights
Access, update, or delete your profile information in the app.
Delete specific messages or entire chat conversations.
Request full account deletion by contacting us at the email below.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or erase your personal data, or to object to certain processing.
6. Children's privacy
Seen is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in
your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data,
please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and
trusted infrastructure providers, to protect your information. No method
of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard
your data.
8. International users
Seen is a global service. Your information may be processed and stored in
countries other than your own, including by the service providers listed
above, which may have different data protection laws.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will
revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be
communicated within the app.
